Food pairing is a really hot topic at the moment. And it’s definitely not all about wine. Finding a great match, whether it’s with wine, cyder or beer can help to get the most out of the flavour of both your food and drink. It is really where quality and depth of flavour shine through.

Roast pork and apple sauce is a classic combination so it seems only natural that pork and cyder should be a perfect fit.

Recent events

We recently did two food pairing events with Young’s Pubs The Alexander Pope Hotel in Twickenham and The Hand & Spear in Weybridge, and Dingley Dell, who produce great tasting free range pork in Suffolk. Mark Hayward of Dingley Dell was there with us discussing the farm and their pork.

We matched the different characteristics from our range of cyders to best complement the flavours of the dishes on the menu. From a sharing platter to start including Scotch eggs, terrine, pork scratchings and more, paired with crisp, floral and appley Draught Suffolk Cyder, through to the fruity combination of apple crumble and Perronelle’s Blush.

Try for yourself!

If you’re keen to try a food matching event, or even a cyder tasting, there are plenty of similar events going on, especially in London. Here is a selection of upcoming dates for your diary:

Young’s Cyder versus Wine Evenings (tickets between £20 & £30 pp with 4/5 course meal)
Geronimo Apple Masterclasses (tickets £5-£10 with Canapés)
