Aspall Cyder - Cider and Vinegar

Abergavenny Food Festival - Win an Exclusive visit to Aspall

14th July 2015

Cook And Eat

The Abergavenny Food Festival is one of the UK's leading food festivals and we're excited to give our support for the first time this year! To kick off we're offering a chance to win an exclusive tour of Aspall, lunch with Barry Chevallier Guild and a two night stay at the luxurious Kesgrave Hall Hotel near Woodbridge.

We’ve been visiting the Abergavenny Food Festival for years and are delighted to be supporting the festival for the first time this year.  The first Abergavenny Food Festival was held in 1999 and every year over 30,000 visitors visit the town during the third weekend in September to meet and shop from 200 food and drink producers all around the town from the Castle ruins to the Market Hall. There’s a huge programme of cookery demonstrations and workshops - something for everyone from hands on children’s workshops with The Food Academy and workshops on everything from sourdough to cheese making from The Artisan Kitchen School. There are demonstrations from well known chefs like Yotam Ottolenghi, Raymond Blanc and the Helmsley sisters.

Aspall’s own Henry Chevallier Guild will running a tutored Cyder Tasting on Sunday at 2pm. Taking you on a journey from the origins of the apple to modern day cider. Henry will delve into the rich stories associated with the apple and cider making; the techniques and heritage as well as the story of cyder making at Aspall. Of course no talk about cyder would be complete without tasting so you’ll be well refreshed along the way.

To top our involvement with Abergavenny this year we’re offering the chance to win an exclusive visit to Aspall to meet the Chevallier family, tour the orchards and the original eighteenth century Cyder House complete with the granite mill and original press created by Clement Chevallier in the early eighteenth century.  Over lunch with Barry Chevallier Guild in his home Aspall Hall you’ll learn about the history of Aspall and have a private tutored tasting. We’ve teamed up with our friends at Milsoms Hotels to offer a two night stay for two people at the luxurious Kesgrave Hall, near Woodbridge. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and is an easy drive to Aspall Hall and the Suffolk coast. Breakfast is included both mornings and a three course dinner on evening.

To be in with a chance of winning buy a weekend wristband for the Abergavenny Food Festival by July 28 2015. Pop over the Abergavenny Food Festival web site for full details of the competition.
